Relax Sunday At Central Market Kuala Lumpur

It's a day off, no plan at all, we let our little girl decide the place she would like to visit. There she go, inspire by the a plate from the local bus, our destination ~ Pasar Seni or Central Market (craft market for Kuala Lumpur)

The market is nothing special to the locals, usually it is crowd with tourist. As we spend the day window shopping and let Ah Ci explore her interest.

I remember back in school days I used to work in one of the store in central market as a part time sale girl, when i revisit the store today, it is exactly same as those days, just the girl is not longer me, huh....

There is even a fish spa which attract some tourist crowd. At RM5 per 10 minutes, it is a chance to test a relax food massage by kisses of the toothless fish of unknown species! After walking for few hours its a good choice to relax your legs!! (Centre picture ~ old lift carry visitor to the upper floor for good food and more craft and souvenir)

We are fortunate enough to catch the demonstration of Royal Pewter Selangor pewter in making.At 360 degree the casting of the pewter is no easy job to accomplished. Yet the girl showing skillful hand with ease, in just 5 minutes the pewter plate with flower design is finished.

Have to mention here the toilet in central market, you can see the door is a design of the old traditional Chinese style with wooden lock, as a popular tourist spot, this is doing a positive image for our country for its cleanliness and concept design.

Summary, a satisfied visit after all those years. Positive changes is always welcome to preserve and promote art and craft culture of the local.

北马一个有人情味的地方。

这边与世无争，你不需要走的太快，你不必当心你的衣服不是明牌，你不用怕驾的是小车而被人看不起，你能尽量当一个人，你的钱能买到很多东西，这里不像南马人Kiasu，或许如此发展也比较慢。。。可是也因为如此它也是最有人情味的地方。

Petrosains KLCC

Yesterday I plan a special outdoor trip as last week is a tension week for my daughter due to final term exam.

Ah Ci keep persuade her dad to bring her to Sunway Lagoon. as Sunway is kind of expensive at RM60 per adult and RM48 for children. I suggest we choose a cheaper destination KLCC Petrosains instead.

It turn out the science centre is a very fun place to bring a kid. You search the website or blog will most probably give you a brief information of the centre. The petrosains use a hand on approach and interative and fun way for kid to learn about general science. Yet the fundamental based for the centre is around petrosciences. It did so by providing a lot of simulator based equipment eg, tornado machine, plasma light, halogram light etc

After purchase ticket for RM24 for a family of two adult and two kids.We need to Q for entry via helmet like gondola trolley, which later the staff said is a oil drop shape dark ride. In the ride, we can see video display, and introduction of malaysia rainforest.The short ride end with a welcome staff at the real entrance of the centre.Ah Ci is relating the dark ride to the time machine of Doreamon.What an imagination of a six years old.!?

All the simulators has signboard attached to it and visitor can read the instruction on it before trying, and at the bottom part it will explain the theory part of the sciences involved in that particular simulator.
We try the hurricane simulator tube which is kind of exciting for everyone, the wind generate in the tube blow about 145KM/H which make me feel kind of out of control.I have to hold on to my spectacle as it almost fly away!!

It is so much fun bringing children to travel together or visit a new and exciting place.

ULU YAM -Nature is right at your door step

Where is it?
Ulu Yam town is a 30 minutes drive of local kampung road from the Batu Cave town which is within easy reach of Kuala Lumpur.If you are driving from Klang Valley, using the LDP and turn to the Batu Cave sign board and follow Ulu Yam signboard after that.

what to see?
The green and peaceful surrounding, the water reservoir/dam of Ulu Yam and the easy access waterfall and the hand made noodle making. Or perhap rubber trees and rubber milk collecting process?

what to eat?
of course the Loh Mee which is famous for is black vinegar taste and handmade noodle which is so different.The one which Ho cyak visiting is the last one at the old Ulu yam town as the photo below:-

what to do?

Fishing at the dam/water reservior. Chilling bath and picnic at the waterfall. Finding your favourate Loh Mee, as there are few shops offering Loh Mee.

Not to forget

Bring an empty big big bottle to store a taste of the Ulu Yam mountain Spring water which is along the road, as its rumour can revitalise the body and cure the sickness away.It is also tested by the MOH for safety drink.Look at the picture below:-

Advice:-

Not to visit the waterfall at rainy day as the path to the fall is quite small and at low level area which is easily flooded.Well,you don't want to flood your car of course!

Sunday Market

我很喜欢去菜市场，因为那里的朝气，整个市区充满活力，每个人都在挑三拣四，找寻心中的美食疏菜。

We depart from Kuala Lumpur and take about 3 hours in good traffic, to reach the Tanah Rata, which is a small town since the British government, it had been a small town and centre for necesity since long long times ago.

there are now starbuck cafe in Tanah Rata, it symbolise that the globalisation is finally eating up the rural hill site without mercy.

Then we head to the Brinchang, it is further 40 minutes drive from the Tanah Rata.And here it is , the big strawberry farm, here you can find a variety of vegetable, cactus, fruits, flowers etc

 and many products from local fruits eg. dried strawberry etc

A  budget hotel which i would give a thumb up for its price and services and the cleanliness,but the king size bed is too hard for my weigh!

Steamboat is a must when you are at the highland

A tea plantation is a must visit during the stay in the highland - taste a cup of Boh tea and you will have the old British feel all over again.A historic church which became a hospital during WWII and now a school, its also rumour to be haunted with the WWII ghosts.Believe it or not?!Go find out for yourself it is just around the Tanah Rata area on a hilltop.

Forest Research Institute (FRIM)

This weekend as it is the week that H1N1 make its killer shot which alert our insensitive fellow Malaysian. I do not plan to stay in house for this weekend, i want to go out, that is why i choose this Forest Research Centre. It is located near the Batu Cave area, if you know how to go to Batu Cave in Kepong then you know how to reach here. It is about 30 minutes from my place if lucky enough and no traffic. The first impression is it is very huge, the compound is wide and broad. We do not follow the signboard, and decide to use our luck for finding some excitement. Well, it didn;t bring us to anywhere, we just see trees and trees and more trees, well what do you expect when you come to the forest??... Then we saw this place crowded with people picnic, and sharing outdoor activity altogether, why?? There is nothing to see...Well we are wrong. But we don;t realise until not so long afterward. The skyline is dark, and yet so bright enough for us to see that the grey cloud is coming to overtake our plan to anything. I get the suggestion to just drive back to home. Insisted by determination to get some nice outdoor photo. I decide to abundant each other and climb my way up the hill where everyone is heading back from because of the weather, and the place look empty and quiet ...imagine i am in this forest, then, I saw IT, the Sungai Kroh waterfall! It is small in size but not without majestic seeing it from downside hill, the trail climbing up the waterfall is muddy and the wooden ladder is rough, i head for the other road, this trail cover with falled leaves, and it is pretty with is yellowish colour, i guess i am the person who can appreciate nature, Ha! After taking some photos, i decide to back down to my orginal place where i park my car, and also because Ah Ci is follow me up the hill, and looking its not a place suitable for a 5 years old...there could be a snake hiding beneath the leaves. When we reach the parking place, we met our Uncle and Aunty from Kepong, from her we know that there is a legendary big dragon fish living inside the FRIM in a pond. Interested by curiousity we went on to hunt for the legendary fish.According to my Aunty when we reach the pond we just need to clap our hand, and the Big-Fish will show its sign. After trying to clap clap clap, we see something floating on the surface, not see clearly, that is IT!! Do you see it?? IT is huge! IT is big enough to shallow Ah Ci without have to chew! When we get a closer view it is a very very big dragon fish and it is seldom found and it should be in the list of protected species.Cool, a big dragon fish which live in the jungle, that make its more mistery then its already is. I found a big bamboo tree standing just metres from the pond and it's look attract me. It had the secret power to seduce me to the garden where the bamboo tree stayed. The garden is so quiet that you don;t imagine that you are in the forest. I suddenly think that i beem taken into some mistery dimension of the different world, this thought scared me, i want to go back, and all i can hear is the voice of Ah Ci , but i cannot see her...!! Run like hell, i get my weak feet back to the pond, thinking a famous phase, 'we must respect nature, or the nature will eat us alive...'( or something like that).And old folks use to say, when you bring a kid to the forest always remember to call her name when we head home, or the jungle spirit might taken her soul! On my way back, i keep callingto Ah Ci :-" Ci, lets back home,....Ci..." Ah Ci look at me with her innocent face:- 'Ok... mum ok ...why you keep repeating??...'. (Good outing this weekend. Anyone to avoid H1N1 please come to the jungle...the jungle spirit might be waiting for you ...)
